Starting a Blog
November 22nd, 2005
The beginning…
As I start this blog with the realization that industry sources are stating that there will be over 50 million blogs by the end of 2005 I again wonder why I would bother adding another one to the top of the pile. What genius do I have to offer to the world that is not being covered by the other 49,999,999 blogs out there? That is a good question. Who is the audience? How will they find it? What compelling content do I have to bring them back? With these questions set firmly in my mind, I realize that in order to do this, I have to do it for myself. Therefore, I officially dedicate this blog to…well… ME!
The scope and purpose of this blog may end up all over the place, but the original intention is pretty clear at this point in time. I have recently made a pretty significant change in my computing life by switching to the Mac World! So, it is safe to say that I am a “switcher”. Thus, the site names www.switchedtomac.com and www.switchedtoapple.com. I am a big fan of computer history and hope to get my own story up on this site in the next couple of weeks. I have a few amusing stories in my long history with computers and I will add those to the site as I go along. My goal is to focus on three areas. Foremost will be Macintosh and Apple from the perspective of someone who has just joined the “club”. Secondly, I am a fan of all history but I particularly like to reminisce about the early personal computer years as it was a great part of my formative years. Finally, I am prone to rant about politicians, pop culture, outsourcing and a multitude of other issues. I most relate to comics such as George Carlin and Bill Maher and am curious in many of the same areas. If you’re still reading, you’ll be learning more about me in the future as I populate the site with links, pictures, and information on my interests.
And so begins the journal, diary, (b)log, or whatever else word best describes it this 22nd of November, 2005. Totally unrelated, today marks the 42nd anniversary of JFK’s assassination.
