"Roboform" for Mac – 1Passwd

September 30th, 2006

It has been a little over a year since I switched to Mac. Throughout the course of the last year year I have continued to be extremely happy with the Mac platform. In fact, I often find myself complaining about quirks when I have to use Windows XP at work. I’ve definitely left Windows in my rearview mirror. I’ve managed to find comparable software for just about everything I had on the Windows machine. One of the exceptions was Microsoft Money, but I’m not even using finance software at this time. The other exception was Roboform Perkins 14 movie download . Roboform was the one application I truly missed. Safari comes with an auto-fill function and a keychain to keep up with passwords, but it is limited in nature. Only about 30% of the websites I had in Roboform were able to be auto-filled by Safari. When I first switched, I posted several messages on Apple web forums asking for a Roboform replacement. I got a couple of suggestions, but basically there was nothing available. I googled “Roboform for Mac” almost daily in hopes of finding something. I even took the time to have a long e-mail exchange with the developers of Roboform and practically begged them to do a Mac version. (on ANY Mac browser) In the end, they were not interested in doing Roboform for Mac.

Late one night last week I decided to check out the MacZOT of the day and I almost had a stroke.

Introducing…1Passwd

null

1Passwd is touted as a “Password Manager and Form Filler for Mac OS X” and it fills this bill very nicely. I downloaded the demo which allows up to 12 sites to be saved and took it for a spin. Not only does 1Passwd give me back my Roboform functionality it does it with a prettier face and less annoying operation. After registering the program, I was able to import all of Roboform passcards and all of the items Safari had saved in my keychain. 1Passwd uses its own keychain and has .MAC sync so that my iBook and iMac can always have the current passwords. This is totally awesome. With Roboform, I always had to copy passcards over manually. After importing 200+ passcards from Roboform, I tested several of the sites that Safari’s auto-fill could not handle and 1Passwd was up to the task. 1 Passwd is capable of filling forms with more information than the inadequate address book entry that Safari uses. I can setup identities just like in Roboform. Plus, 1Passwd is much easier on your toolbar than Roboform as it only adds one key icon and automates tasks that Roboform made you deal with constantly. Finally, it not only generates new passwords when needed, it fills and saves them. (something Roboform doesn’t do) The developers of 1Passwd are my new heroes. They deserve to have a monument built in their honor!

If you are Windows switcher who is longing for a Roboform for Mac, then fly to the 1Passwd website and download it. If you have never used Roboform or 1Passwd before then you don’t know what you are missing. Surfing without them is like fishing without bait! I cannot recommend 1Passwd highly enough. Go get it now!

    Carl,

Nice site. Don’t stop writing! This brief but helpful review of 1Passwd is great. It’s personal, informative, and provides just enough detail without going into too many picayune details.

    Cheers,
    Erik

    Dude!

I just switched to a MacBook Pro and loving it! I was upset to realize that RoboForm didn’t have a Mac version. After googling I came across your site and bingo you have the answer.

I just wanted to drop you a line and say thanks for the nice write up and pointing me in the right direction.

As a heavy RoboForm user, I’m trying to get my new Mac set up with 1password. The bummer is that RoboForm no longer exports to html or csv, at least not that I can find.

As a PC and Mac user, I’m stuck with two password managers that won’t import from the other, much less sync.

    Any advice?

    Thanks

  • 4. Carl  |  March 17th, 2007 at 9:13 am

    Mike,

You have to use the Print List feature within Roboform to export your data. Here is a document describing how to do it:

    Have Fun!

Thanks for this. I’ve just bought a macbook pro and googled “roboform for macs” and your site came up.

This is exactly what I needed!

    Carl,
if you are going to use multiple strong and complex passwords you definitely need a password manager. Software products like Roboform are certainly an option, but I think you could also consider the alternative provided by online password managers.

    [Some of comment deleted]

    Regards,
    Marco

[Marco: Although you may not think it fair that I edited out the plug for your product, it is my blog and thus I obviously get to determine what gets plugged and what doesn't. Its also fairly known that I am a raving fan of 1Passwd. I appreciate your feedback and mean no offense, but that's the way it is. Thanks --- Carl]

    Hi there!

I’m currently a PC user, but I’m thinking about to have an MAC too.

Is there a way to export from 1Passwd and import to Roboform back?

I would like to have a secure Password tool that supports PC, Mac, Pocket PC, Palm and Symbian.
It seems that does requirements can’t be fulfilled by one tool right now… :(

    Cheers
    Sepp

  • 8. Carl  |  March 28th, 2007 at 6:41 pm

    Sepp,

Currently, 1Passwd cannot export its data directly into Roboform and as you have pointed out there really isn’t a cross-platform solution out there.

The future may bring different circumstances.

  • 9. Sepp  |  April 6th, 2007 at 8:19 am

    Hello

    Any experience with SpashID?
    (URL removed)
There are quite many version for different OS available (also for MAC):
    - Pocket PC (including Treo 700w)
    - Windows Mobile Smartphone (e.g., Cingular 2125, T-Mobile – - SDA, Motorola Q)
    - BlackBerry (71xx, 72xx, 75xx, 87xx, Pearl)
    - Symbian UIQ (Sony Ericsson P800, P900, P910)
    - Series 60 (Nokia)
    - Windows Desktop Edition
    - Mac OS Desktop Edition

  • 10. Carl  |  April 6th, 2007 at 11:13 am

    Sepp,

There are a lot of password “vaults” out there. They are not hard to do as they are basically databases. What makes Roboform and 1Passwd different is the ease of use in dealing with that information. I don’t want to manually copy and paste information from a “vault” to my browser. I want direct browser integration and form filling capabilites. The product you mentioned does not fit this bill and tends to have a PDA focus.

IMHO, 1Passwd is the the most powerful and useful password management application for OS X. It also imports SplashID data for those that took the route previously.

  • 11. Nick Yeates  |  April 9th, 2007 at 3:35 am

I read this and it made me download 1passwd. The actual application is very well laid out and implemented, but not initially intuitive. I agree with an earlier commenter that the main way of logging into a page is not quite ‘there’ yet. I want to go to a web page, and have the password util detect/know that I am at that page and login me in, with no action at all needed by me. Maybe I am doing something wrong though, so I encourage others to DEF give this good software a try.

The biggest let down though, is that the product does not appear portable AT ALL. I am slowly switching to mac, but I use windows, and linux heavily and at random places and occasions. I NEED to access my passwords over the web. For this, I googled Mr Marco Barulli’s name and found his promising Clipperz software. I am disappointed that the creator of this page edited it out above. Do as you wish, but his code is now hosted by google under open source and he is doing a good service to everyone. I support freedom of choice, maybe you can provide that by not editing this.

Portable, secure, web accessible passwords are a thing of the very very near future. Maybe 1Passwd or roboform can see that and will integrate similar functionality…

  • 12. Carl  |  April 9th, 2007 at 10:45 am

    Nick,

I support freedom of choice as well. Which means that I have the choice to determine what goes on the blog and what doesn’t. After all, I pay the hosting and do all the work. See any google ads on this site? Or any other ads? So basically, since this is a money losing proposition, I get to say what goes and what stays and people don’t have the “right” to plug their products on the site.

Now, as far the program you mentioned goes…There is absolutely no way I am going to put the usernames and passwords to all my banking sites on a hosted web site. What if the site gets hacked? What if the site goes down or their hosting company has an issue? Too many things can go wrong. I’m storing that stuff locally.

1Passwd is adding a Go&Fill feature which is similar to RF. However, having any software that fills the page without interaction or initiation by the user is a pretty big security risk. It was already shown how Safari’s and Firefox’s password managers could be tricked into handing out information.

Also, the developers of 1Passwd have already hinted as some other big things on the horizon, so stayed tuned.

  • 13. Mark  |  April 20th, 2007 at 5:08 pm

I just purchaced a MAC. One of my main conserns was finding a replacement application for ROBOFORM. I have relied on that password / url utility on windows heavily.

It is nice to find an equivelent program!

  • 14. Carl  |  May 8th, 2007 at 1:39 pm

I too am a converted mac user, and doing OK with 1 passwd and Safari. I prefer Firefox, and wonder if I can use 1 passwd with firefox instead of their password manager. If I can use it, any suggestions on procedures.
    Thanks,
    Rami Mina

  • 15. Carl  |  May 8th, 2007 at 7:10 pm

    Rami,

    1Passwd works with Firefox too.

  • 16. dave Hartmann  |  May 28th, 2007 at 3:52 pm

I too am a switcher from windows. Thanks for the posting of 1passwd. I thought I was in real trouble. Mac seems worth waiting around for replacements for windows software.

You too should have a monment for yourself on alerting many of the 1passwd. Much appreciated.

  • 17. Steve  |  May 31st, 2007 at 4:47 pm

Well, glad to see that I’m not alone! ;-) Lke the rest of you, I’ve conducted this search for a “roboform” equivalent on Mac way too many times. I also had a similar conversation with the RoboForm developers and received a similar answer: something along the lines of “we’re not interested ’cause we don’t see much point in porting it to mac.” Hmmm… Anyway, I’ll check-out 1Passwd. Many thanks for posting this!

  • 18. Lisa  |  July 4th, 2007 at 10:41 am

I have been looking for weeks since I switched to my Mac (which I love!) — but I missed Roboform so much. THANK YOU for posting this — I am off to download… :)

  • 19. Dee Ried  |  July 6th, 2007 at 1:16 pm

I just switched to Mac and was forced to give up roboform for 1password. I want to say that 1password needs to be a little more informative when setting up your account. It took me forever to get it operating correctly. When I switched from Gator to Roboform it was a snap! Therefore I am not thrilled with 1password so far. In order to edit you have to go to the application instead of giving you that opportunity on the bar (at least I have not figured out a different way yet). It isn’t very user friendly in my estimation. But maybe after using it for a while I will change my mind!

  • 20. Dee Ried  |  July 6th, 2007 at 1:19 pm

I also want to say that thank you so much for your site because it has helped me tremendously to understand how 1password works, oposed to the User Guide on the main site. Thanks again, keep up the good work!

  • 21. Jonathan Bardi  |  July 17th, 2007 at 12:42 am

1Passwd is way behind the times. Still needs a LOT of work to be even close to Roboform, which is too bad.

I used Roboform primarily for Purchases, as I use SuperGenPass for logins, as there is nothing safer.

The problem with 1Passwd is it only allows 1 credit card per identity. Come on, you have got to be kidding. The average person has 3-5 credit and/or debit cards, so to limit it to 1 per identity is simply bad development. This isn’t the 70’s or early 80’s where only wealthy had multiple credit cards.

Therefore, if you actually used the credit card purchasing power of Roboform, 1Passwd is useless. It is getting better, but for the time being, it is still struggling to compete.

  • 22. Dane  |  July 26th, 2007 at 4:56 pm

The only thing I have found that I don’t like about 1passwd is that I started to rely on Roboform as my bookmark folder. I would just click on the icon, select the site and Roboform would take me there and log me in. I haven’t seen something like this on 1passwd yet.

  • 23. Richard Magee  |  September 17th, 2007 at 5:15 am

Thanks for your review of 1passwd. I am currently a Roboform user who is about to switch to a MacBook Pro. Is it possible to have both a version of the 1passwd software and the 1passwd data on a USB key (which can be done with Roboform), thus making it portable?

  • 24. Carl  |  September 18th, 2007 at 9:56 am

Yes, you can place the 1Passwd data on a USB key but will still need to have 1Passwd installed on the machine that will access the data.

  • 25. Nick Lloyd  |  October 14th, 2007 at 6:29 am

As an XP slave teetering on the brink of an anticipated liberation, of prime concern is mapping a migration of fundamental use cases into the OSX environment. I too have therefore just ‘googled’ roboform for mac. My impressions to date are much like those after my professional migration from VMS to Unix many years ago: whatever you want to do in OSX, there’s a way to do it and more, generally very simply and efficiently; it’s just a question of finding it. Sites like yours provide invaluable assistance during the weening process, many thanks for your trouble taken.

  • 26. Michel Wittmer  |  October 17th, 2007 at 8:20 am

Thanks very much, that was exactly my problem since I switched to a mac, I am a longtime Roboform User and thanks to you I found what I was looking for :-) )

  • 27. Kadeeae  |  November 17th, 2007 at 7:36 am

Thanks so much for this! I’ll be purchasing my very first Mac inthe next couple of weeks and had been looking for ages for a RoboForm type app for Macs. I too googled RoboForm +for Macs which is how I got to your site.

Sounds as if 1password isn’t quite perfect yet, but I remember a time when RoboForm was lacking a bit too. When the iMac gets here I’m getting 1password and will stick with them for the ‘better product’.

Thanks again for the post – have added your feed to my Bloglines!

  • 28. deezlman  |  November 25th, 2007 at 11:04 am

Really appreciate the tip on 1passwd! I’m switching to a Mac and just reviewing the applications I’ll need to port over or find a replacement for. Roboform was certainly one of them. This is great! Thanks!

  • 29. Alex  |  December 15th, 2007 at 1:52 pm

    Carl

Wow, your experiences with windows and then switching to mac and not having roboform describe me to the tee.

I also checked out their site and was disappointed that no mac versino existed (stupid shortsightedness if you ask me) but I don’t think I would have contacted the developers. I’m glad you did though and even happier that you were able to find a replacement and write about it online.

    Thank you!

You have helped me and others and I hope that brings you satisfaction!

  • 30. Sinan  |  January 1st, 2008 at 12:35 pm

Hello all switched to mac people,

İ’m also pretty satisfied with my mac experience and had the same problem with roboform and started using 1password but, the only thing missing in 1password is:

I was using roboform as my favourites or bookmarks when i click on roboform icon, it lists me all login info with directory structure and i’m able to choose and directly go to the selected site, but with 1password first i have to enter the url and then click 1password icon to restore the form.

That is the one and only lack that i found out with 1password. If anyone knows a trick for that, your comments are more than welcome.

    Thanks,
    Sinan.

I bought an iMac as Christmas present for the wife. So far she hates it (and reminds me every day). I can’t say I blame her, I’ve tried it and found iMac to be a needlessly confusing toy, at best, with limited software applications (unless you’re ready to spend lots of money on software applications that do a fraction of the stuff that I can do on my PC with applications that I get for free). I’d sell it tomorrow if I could get most of the $1,400 that I shelled out for it.

On the plus side the lack of a “Roboform” program made the iMac unusable for my wife and for that I owe you a million thanks. She pays the bills and does the online banking and having to type all the user IDs and Passwords in manually meant that she has had to keep her PC laptop at the ready while her iMac sat quietly collecting dust. At least now she can pay the bills without reminding me of what a complete idiot I am for buying her a ridiculously expensive toy computer for Christmas.

  • 32. Matt  |  January 17th, 2008 at 9:39 am

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!

I just swithched to MA this week and I’m very happy as well, but the robo form thing was killing me! I’m so glad you found 1passwd for us and saved me the time of finding it myself. you’re my new hero. Can’t wait to read the REST of your blog now :)

    Thanks again.

  • 33. Dave  |  January 22nd, 2008 at 12:34 am

I too am a recent Mac convert and somehow just assumed Roboform would work on the Mac, since all my other Firefox extensions seem to work fine. Then I got to their website and saw the dreaded words: RoboForm works only on Microsoft Windows. Mac and Linux/UNIX are not supported.

Doh! Thanks for pointing me to a viable alternative.

  • 34. John  |  January 25th, 2008 at 8:58 am

googled “roboform for mac”, clicked to this discussion, BINGO…exactly my sentiments. Okay…I’m on my way to download 1passwd…bingo ! Gotta love the web and this site. Thanks

  • 35. roboform  |  January 28th, 2008 at 8:29 pm

    Great
I like Roboform for mac, which means 1passwd

  • 36. Barry McMahon  |  January 30th, 2008 at 11:45 am

Well I’m almost there folks, thanks for the above info ! Have a macbook plus iphone now and looking for that roboform replacement. Just one quick question for all you ‘users’; does ipassword have the ability to display in plain text the actual password(s) ? Maybe even print that out. Used this once in a while for encrypted file access on my phones that were not supported by roboform. Thanks for any feedback.

  • 37. L.  |  February 21st, 2008 at 2:55 pm

1passwd isnt quite as good as roboform.

things its missing (that I really miss):

    1. no search in the tool bar…have to launch the app to search
    2. no popup option for a site I have a password stored….have to have the 1passwd toolbar open and see if there are any “matches”

all in all its not bad, but i do miss roboform

  • 38. Dennis  |  March 6th, 2008 at 7:05 pm

Carl can I put the 1 passwd on a jump drive like roboform?

  • 39. Rob  |  April 2nd, 2008 at 9:54 pm

What an excellent post. I’m just off to buy a Mac Pro and was very concerned because I too love Roboform, but the thought of having to run my business without it once I’d jumped ship was almost enough for me not to buy a Mac!!!

You just made my buying decision a whole lot easier… thanks.

I switched back to the mac after a decade away. I’d forgotten how much fun a mac is to use. I thought I was the only one who missed Roboform until I found this website. I can’t tell you how pleased I am to find you.
You are doing a great service to those of us who are making the transition from pc to mac.
I’d downloaded 1password based on a review from macworld online but I didn’t bother to run it yet. I figured it couldn’t come close to roboform until I read your review. Thank you!

I have been using Roboform for a year now. I love the program, and don’t know what I would do without it. I would recommend it. I made a quick video about teh program and posted it on squidoo

  • 43. Darryl (Dr) Cross  |  May 26th, 2008 at 12:18 am

I’ve just switched across to the Apple MacBook after 20+ years with Microsoft and certainly love the “friendly” nature of the mac. However, I have been stressing a tad trying to remember all my passwords that RoboForm had captured for me and have limped along for the last few weeks.
I was so thankful to google in “RoboForm for Apple macs” and found your site. What a piece of heaven!
Many thanks for your good work. Much appreciated.

  • 44. Mike  |  June 21st, 2008 at 10:13 pm

Just bought a mac and was also frustrated with having to leave roboform behind. I have been searching for something better. The guys at Best buy told me that the auto fill would fix my problem.. NO Way… auto fill doesn’t do anything for me.. Did a search for roboform for mac and found your site.. Just wanted to say thanks!! now to find something for MS money

  • 45. LMC  |  June 26th, 2008 at 10:03 am

I generally agree with the review, but there are two Roboform features that I really miss that 1Password has said they don’t intend to add. The first is the fill and go option. Roboform toolbar allows you to select a saved url, take you to it, fill it in, and submit. In 1Password, you have to enter the url yourself (or bookmark it). Only then will 1Password recognise and allow you to complete login. Inefficient. The fill and go is available from 1Password proper, but would be much better to have on toolbar instead of a separate application. I also think that the list of saved forms in 1Password would be much more manageable if typing the first letter of the form would take you to that spot alphabetically in the list (rather than navigating with mouse or arrow keys). Again, more efficient.

  • 46. guy  |  June 27th, 2008 at 12:06 pm

1 password is decent…but….I miss roboform

  • 47. David A Teare  |  June 27th, 2008 at 4:30 pm

    Thanks for the feedback @LMC.

Having Go&Fill available directly from within the browser is something we are very interested in adding. I think you will be pleasantly surprised in the next few weeks :)

As for the ability to type a letter and go there fast, 1Password has this today. It will first find matching entries by domain, and name secondary.

    Cheers!

I moved to Mac about 6 months ago. I’ve been using 1Password most of that time. 1Password is not Roboform. I’m going back to (ugh) Microsoft.

  • 49. Les Carleton  |  July 4th, 2008 at 7:04 pm

Looks like there’s a mac roboform port in the development stage as they’re lookig for a mac developer to port roboform (http://www.roboform.com/enterprise/about/careers.html)

  • 50. Jason Prance  |  July 6th, 2008 at 1:48 am

Wow, how fun of have these blog comments been. I hardly ever read these things but I got reeled in!

I’m getting ready to go out and buy my first apple and carry through with my prior plans of applization. (very excited) I’m also a RoboForm fan. Thanks for the news bulletin Les! Looks like a mac Roboform is coming soon. Hooray!

Now I need to find new purpose in my Iron Key… They have a mac beta compatibility however with no Roboform, what’s the use! :(

I, too, just got a MacBook & am so sad that Roboform isn’t compatible. I’ve read through this entire thread of notes & am excited to see that Roboform may be available for mac users.
Any idea of how long we’ll need to wait? Would it be worth it to download 1Passwd for now?
    TIA!

Look at this!! just changing to Mac and looked at 1passwd not so good as cant take you to the site and auto log you in you have to type the url yourself very relieved to see this on the roboform careers website

    Senior Mac Developer

Your goal will be to port RoboForm to Mac, so
knowledge of all involved technologies is required.

Must have experience in large C++ software projects on
    Mac, preferably involving browser integration.

Requirements: Mac OS GUI, APIs, UI design, browser
    internals, C++, object-oriented programming.

    Cashback!!
lets hope it doesn’t take too long to develop

I too moved to a mac and although I’m using VMware fusion for those must have Windows apps, it’s nice to see I don’t have to use roboform anymore as I’m very dependent on my password manager! Thanks again for a great article!

Is it no longer possible to export roboform data and import it into 1Password? It seemed that there was a step by step explanation, but it’s gone. It seems that a newer version of roboform may have taken away the capability.

If I install an older version of roboform, will that allow me to pull the data over?

NOT SO FAST! 1P works well with passwords but does not complete forms as does Roboform! Here’s the response I have received from a techie at 1Password when I asked for a fix on forms…

“Hi, Noel! Thanks for taking the time to contact us. I’m sorry for the trouble you’re having. Form filling is one of the areas where we need to improve 1Password. Our developers will be focusing on shoring up some of the form filling and recognition capabilities of 1Password in future versions.

I’m sorry I don’t have better news for you, but we’ll have better form filling soon. Please let us know if we can help with anything else.

    Cheers,
    Jamie”

Carl – thanks for taking the time to post this info on RoboForm. You were the first hit on MY Google of “Roboform for Mac”, and I really appreciate the knowledge. You’re good at this!

I have been using Roboform on my U3 stick for years now and found it to be bliss as it is totally portable and lived plugged to my PC ready to be taken with me on the move – so I never needed the occasional host PC to have Roboform installed.
Now that I moved to Mac I was forced to switch to 1Password and miss very much the portability of my Roboform/U3 drive. So while it maybe the best available solution it is far from ideal.
Not sure I understand all this enthusiasm, Roboform is very clearly a better product. but we can’t have it all I guess.

Thanks so much for this site. Within minutes of buying my iMac I found this site and bought 1 Password. Support has been tops but after 7 mo I still find myself reaching for my old XP laptop to browse the Internet because Roboform is SO EASY and painless to use. Just a lot of work to launch and type in 1 Password and editing is a real pain in 1 Password. I do hope the product becomes closer to what I am used to with Roboform so that I will enjoy the internet with my iMac as much as with my old PC and laptop.

Perfect. I use PC at work and have at home forever. Just got my hands on a macbook and I see myself becoming a Win-hater very soon. I work in IT so password management for all the sites I deal with is a must and I lvoe robo forms and needed a solution for my new Mac life. Thanks!

I just switched to Mac a little over a week ago and was bummed to find out I cant use robo form. THANK YOU!!!!

  • 71. iGameFlash.Com  |  May 7th, 2009 at 7:22 am

Oh! Good software for Mac, thank you

  • 72. Marco Conti  |  May 28th, 2009 at 6:18 pm

Dude! You saved my life!!! I am not switching from PC to Mac, too much money invested in software, but I am proud papa of a brand new Mac Mini that arrived in he mail today.

A roboform replacement was my very first search (right after the Monitor adapter I need for my KVM – you’d think a mac mini would come with a couple of adapters in the box).

I have been using RF since the late 90’s and I can’t imagine working without it. I am a web developer and I manage, have built or need to keep track of about 500 websites (each with multiple passwords for DBs, Cpanels, site admins, etc. And that’s not including email, banking, user forums, social sites.
Without RF I would be dead in the water.

Question: I use the “safenote” feature a lot. Does this have it?

  • 73. Marco Conti  |  May 28th, 2009 at 6:27 pm

Just checked the demo, their “safenote” feature seems to be even better than RF. It’s rolled into the Password file a a “note”.

I like that. I have misplaced the note and the login before.

Hey, great site, I am looking forward to share experiences with you.

You saved the day! I love Roboform and was bummed they didnt have a MAC version. Downloading 1Passwd now!

  • 75. luke  |  August 4th, 2009 at 2:42 pm

    great tool, period.

I was disappointed there wasn’t a roboform identity import tho…

  • 76. Deb Hammond  |  October 20th, 2009 at 11:29 am

    Howdy-

I too switched to a Mac (Macbook) in January of this year. The pain is in trying to pay for something and having it import my credit card info like RoboForm. Am I doing something wrong? Other than that, I’m okay with 1Password. Sure beats not having anything! RoboForm sure spoiled me though!!

How do I get 1Passwordt to fill in Credit payment info?

    Thanks in advvance!

I see that the ad for a Mac developer is still on the books, so no RF for Mac for some time.

I tried 1P for some time on my iMac, but didn’t like it, as too fiddly. Perhaps I should give it another try…

Re: the comment about not having ability to have more than one CredCard per identity in 1P… In RF, I have different IDs for different CCs, means just one click…

  • 78. Susuu  |  October 29th, 2009 at 4:49 pm

I just stumbled across your blog. You’ve saved what remains of my hair with this article. I, too, have been using RoboForm for several years, and I find it indispensable

I bought a Mac Mini today. My intent is to use it until they work any bugs out of the new i7 iMacs. At that time, I’ll buy an iMac, and trade in my Mini.

I’m going to keep my Toshiba laptop, running XP, as I’ve heard that there aren’t any good financial programs for the Mac. I’m still using Quicken 2003. Aside from that, I’ll be free from Vista, which I’ve been using on my desktop.

My major concern was what to do about my many passwords and user IDs. You’ve solved my problem. Thank you.

Trying to decide if I should get 1 Password for Mac OSx Snow Leopard. I loved my Roboform on Windows xp. Apparently, 1Password requires the user to run in 32 bit mode rather than 64. How would this affect speed, etc. Also noticed that RF has a beta for Safari. Anyone on this test?

  • 80. James  |  December 20th, 2009 at 7:06 pm

Thanks for the review. But what about Roboform SAFENOTES, does 1Password handle those too?

  • 81. Deep  |  December 22nd, 2009 at 2:12 am

Thanks for the review. I just switched to a mac and was really missing Roboform. Googled for alternatives and your review came up. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

    Cheers!

  • 82. OCHearse  |  December 25th, 2009 at 11:10 am

I, too, am a Windows user who recently switched to a Mac. I’ve been using RoboForm for several years, and I’ve now purchased a licence to 1Password. I agree with those who say that RF is much easier to use than 1P.

Not only that, my next computer probably will be a Windows machine. I’d been a Mac user in the days of Systems 5 and 6, and my memories of the Mac OS were good. However, now that I’m using Snow Leopard, I can’t wait to return to Windows.

IMO, the latter is much more configurable for my purposes, than is the Mac OS. I’ve partitioned my Mac’s HD, and I’m temporarily running XP on the Windows partition, but that’s an inferior solution for me.

  • 83. james lohman  |  February 11th, 2010 at 3:55 pm

I just downloaded 1Password and I’m not able to find the password list that 1P has created. Also, it won’t assign a password to my banking website. Also, I haven’t been able to transfer my passwords that “Safari” created over to1P. That’s it for now.

  • 84. Victorian Greenhouse Plans  |  March 5th, 2010 at 10:37 pm

i got my self a 1 password and have to say that it does the job, but i do prefer roboform. i use both… one on pc and one on mac of course

  • 85. Wilm Hunter  |  April 30th, 2010 at 5:48 pm

Thanks was just getting anxious that Roboform was not supported. Saved the day ;-)
